Willy Wonka Jr. Audition Help?

I am auditioning for the show Willy Wonka Jr. this summer and I really want the role of Violet Beauregarde. I already know that I'm singing "Gimme Gimme" from the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, but I'm kind of worried. The age range is from 9th to 12th grade, so should I not get my hopes up? I have always wanted to be Violet but I don't want the older kids to blow my chances away. So, should I go for a smaller role? Thank you!
